Personal Profile

Zhao Hu, Doctor of Medicine, Professor of Forensic Medicine, Chief Physician of Psychiatry, Doctoral Supervisor, introduced as a "Hundred Talents Plan" talent and an outstanding scholar of the "Yixian Plan" by Sun Yat-sen University. He is an expert in the national legal talent pool of the Central Office for Comprehensively Promoting the Rule of Law, a member of the Discipline Evaluation Group of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, the vice-chairman of the Teaching Guidance Committee for Forensic Medicine Majors in Colleges and Universities of the Ministry of Education, and a member of the National Technical Committee for Forensic Technology Standardization. He is an outstanding teacher of Baosteel, a national judicial appraisal expert (forensic category), and an advanced individual in the national public legal service work. He is the person in charge of the national first-class professional construction point and the national characteristic major (Sun Yat-sen University), the director of the Department of Forensic Medicine of Zhongshan School of Medicine, Sun Yat-sen University, the director of the National Forensic Appraisal Institution (Sun Yat-sen University Forensic Appraisal Center), and the director of the Guangdong Forensic Medicine Translational Medicine Engineering Technology Research Center. He serves as the vice-chairman of the Forensic Psychiatry Professional Committee of the Chinese Forensic Medicine Association, an advisor of the Judicial Psychiatry Group of the Chinese Medical Association Psychiatry Branch, the vice-president of the Forensic Medicine Branch of the Association for Exchange of Medicine and Health across the Taiwan Straits, the president of the Guangdong Judicial Appraisal Association, the vice-chairman of the Party Building Work Guidance Committee of the Judicial Appraisal Industry of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Justice, and an expert of the Second Guangzhou Major Administrative Decision Demonstration.

He has long been engaged in research and appraisal work in forensic psychiatry and forensic clinical medicine. He is a member of the working group for strategic research in the forensic science field during the "13th Five-Year Plan" and "14th Five-Year Plan" periods of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and a second-round review expert for key projects. He has presided over 6 national scientific research projects (including 1 key project, 4 general projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and 1 sub-topic of the National Science and Technology Support Program) and has completed and participated in 7 provincial and ministerial-level scientific fund projects. He has published more than 180 papers in domestic and foreign professional journals, including more than 50 SCI papers. He has obtained 3 national invention patents, 1 second prize at the provincial and ministerial levels, and 2 teaching achievement awards at the university level of Sun Yat-sen University. He has edited and participated in the compilation of 20 textbooks and monographs. He is the deputy editor-in-chief of the judicial appraisal branch of the law discipline in the third edition of the Encyclopaedia of China, the chief editor of the English version of the national "13th Five-Year Plan" textbook Forensic Medicine, the vice-chairman of the national "13th Five-Year Plan" textbook Forensic Psychiatry, the chief editor of the planned textbook Forensic Medicine of the Medical Education Professional Committee of the Chinese Society of Higher Education, and the chief editor of the third edition of the national postgraduate textbook Advanced Forensic Medicine.

Academic Achievements
Important Academic Research Results and Contributions

He established the theoretical system and appraisal technology system of mental injury in China, improving the level of transformation and application of mental injury in forensic psychiatric appraisal. He innovatively proposed a theory of criminal responsibility appraisal based on crime scene reconstruction. He compiled the Mental Trauma Impact Questionnaire (Others' Evaluation Version) with independent intellectual property rights and regional norms. He formulated the judicial appraisal technical specification Guidelines for the Assessment of the Trial Competence of Persons with Mental Disorders issued by the Ministry of Justice. He developed an individual identification technology for disguised memory impairment, filling the research gap in this field of appraisal technology in China.
